Atletico, Juventus, and Inter Milan in transfer race to sign Mason Greenwood
Juventus have entered the congested race to sign Marseille attacker Mason Greenwood this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Greenwood’s form in France has also piqued the interest of Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan, who are keeping tabs on the lethal forward.
Greenwood has exploded into a talismanic figure for Marseille since leaving Manchester United.
The 24-year-old has bagged 25 goals and eight assists in 39 appearances for Les Phoceens. He has now recorded 47 goals and 17 assists in 75 appearances.
Greenwood can thrive as a striker, a supporting striker, an inside forward and a winger, making him a versatile threat for whichever club lands him.
At Juventus, he can fill in as a false nine under Luciano Spalletti or compete for a berth on the right flank.
The Old Lady desperately needs quality in the final third to complement the mercurial Kenan Yildiz, and Greenwood fits the bill.
However, Serie A rivals Inter Milan will be hoping to spoil Juve’s plans to land the forward.
They want to refresh their forward line, and the Englishman is on their shortlist.
It remains to be seen if they will actually pull the trigger, as they have enough forwards for now and the future.
But if Marcus Thuram or Lautaro Martinez leaves, Greenwood might come in to replace them.
Atletico Madrid have been keeping tabs on the Marseille man for some time now. Their interest is not new.
He can slot in perfectly into the split forward role in Diego Simeone’s set-up, although the Argentine tactician might be wary of Greenwood’s defensive application.
It is worth noting that Marseille holds all the cards regarding a transfer as he signed a deal through to 2029.
Greenwood is poised to move to a bigger club this summer, and they are beginning to circle.
Over the coming weeks/months, expect more clarity on where he will be plying his trade next season.
