Barcelona star open to summer exit after diminished role under Hansi Flick

Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado is open to leaving the club this summer, according to Cadena SER. 

Casado is one of the top talents to come out of the La Masia academy. 

He enjoyed a breakout 2024-25 campaign, featuring in 36 games across all competitions. 

But the Spaniard’s situation has dramatically changed this season, as he has been struggling for minutes under manager Hansi Flick. 

Casado has played 1,276 minutes across 29 games, starting only nine La Liga fixtures. 

The 22-year-old rejected offers from the Premier League last summer, but he has had a change of heart because of his diminished role at the Catalan club. 

Barcelona are not actively looking to offload the defensive midfielder, but they could be open to a transfer if a suitable offer arrives. 

The Blaugrana’s financial troubles are well known, and they could make a significant profit from the sale of Casado, who cost them nothing as he is an academy graduate. 

Barcelona are set for a busy summer in the transfer market. 

They look to add a new centre-back and a forward to the squad. 

The La Liga giants need to make decisions on loanees Marcus Rashford and Joao Cancelo after impressive spells at the Spotify Camp Nou. 

They also need to sort out Robert Lewandowski’s future in Catalonia. 

The club are ready to extend the Poland international’s deal if he agrees to take a significant pay cut.
