Kinsky thanks messages of support after tough Champions League debut with Tottenham

On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, an unprecedented moment took place in the UEFA Champions League during the match between Tottenham and Atletico Madrid. After the side led by Diego Simeone scored three goals within the first 20 minutes, Tottenham made a goalkeeper change based on performance, as Antonin Kinsky was replaced by Guglielmo Vicario.

It was a very difficult moment in the match and particularly for Kinsky’s career. The goalkeeper shared a message on social media thanking fans for their support. “Thanks for messages. From dream to nightmare to dream again. See you,” Kinsky wrote.

It was a situation rarely seen at this level, reminiscent of what happened to Loris Karius and Liverpool in the 2018 UEFA Champions League Final against Real Madrid. Two of the goals conceded came from clear mistakes by the goalkeeper, including errors while attempting to play the ball with his feet.

Developing story…
